Our spikes are designed for the cello to improve its sound quality and projection giving more comfort to the performer while playing. The placement of the holes along the tube respects the wavelength of the sound. Furthermore, the hole that is placed on the golden piece will work as a speaker that needs to face the direction we wish to project the sound, taking pressure away from the instrument.

USE AND MAINTENANCE ADVICE

1. Just like strings, the bridge or the sound post, our spikes are an accessory that can impact the instrument's sound production significantly, therefore they need to be treated with care. We suggest avoiding excessive shock to the apparatus, especially through the tube.

2. Even though the spikes are conscientiously polished, brass is a material that due to its properties can lose brightness over time. We recommend the use of a soft scourer with a little amount of soap or vinegar to return to it’s original appearance. The carbon fibre tube can be cleaned with ethyl alcohol.

3. It can be possible that over the time the tip loses its sharpness because of constant use. With a fine grain file it can be sharpened without going to a luthier.

4. To guarantee the best result and the longevity of the product, we highly recommend the use of an endpin piece like the Bender type or similar,  which holds the spike along the complete diameter of the tube (pictures with the green icon).  Try to avoid the use of endpin pieces with one side screw subjection.
